Savica Waterfall

One of the most colorful natural attractions in Slovenia is the Savica Falls, located near the Bohinj lake . It has an incredibly picturesque view, due to the fact that its waters fall down one angle, forming a fracture.

What is interesting for the Savica waterfall?

The area in which the Savica waterfall is located is extremely picturesque. Tourists who are guided tours in these places, and show Bohinjskoe Lake, located in close proximity to the falls. Its area reaches 3.18 km², so the lake is recognized as the largest in the country.

After a short distance from the lake, the travelers find themselves near the Savica Falls, which is a truly amazing sight. Its height is rather small and is only 78 m, but at the same time the water produces a very significant noise. To admire the beautiful view of the waterfall, you will first have to climb a mountain, the total distance of the road is about 5 km.

The Savitsa waterfall has a very unusual appearance, which is due to the difference in water flow. At a certain height, a fracture occurs, due to which another water jet forms, and the waterfall becomes double.

Information for tourists

Travelers who decided to admire the Savica waterfall and make a trip by car, it is recommended to get to the mountain shelter Savica, which is located at an altitude of 653 m above sea level. There they can leave the car in the parking lot.

Nearby there is a souvenir shop where you can buy magnets and other souvenirs in memory of the trip. For the entrance to the waterfall is a moderate fee, the tourist route runs along the forest path, it is convenient not only for adults, but also for children.

How to get there?

To reach the Savica Falls, you can use two routes:

  1. To reach by car to the mountain shelter Savica, an asphalt road stretching from the village of Ukants is laid for this purpose.
  2. Take advantage of the hiking trail. It originates near the hotel "Zlatorog", then you need to follow the paved path, adhering to special indexes. The time that the road takes will be about an hour. Along the way you can see a lot of interesting natural attractions, because you have to walk on a stone bridge, laid across the Mala Savica River. On a certain stretch of road there is a small house with an observation deck next to it, from where a stunning view opens up.
