Ljubljana University is a rather old building, the date of construction of its main building is 1919. This was a significant event in the life of the city. Prerequisites for the creation of the university existed in the XVII century, at this time on the territory of the settlement there were humanitarian and theological academies. At the same time, the question of the foundation of the university was very relevant, and in 1810, when the French government was operating, the first university was created, it was based on the Paris analogue type. However, it lasted a very short time and was soon closed.
At the moment, the University of Ljubljana is one of the largest and most famous higher educational institutions in Slovenia with an old history of existence. In it there are 22 faculties, a college, 3 academies of arts. The number of students, who annually study here, reaches 64 thousand people. For many years the university was the only one in Ljubljana, it was until the University was founded in Maribor in 1978 and in Primorsk in 2001.

The merit in the creation of the building belongs to the architect Josip Hudetz.
