The Botanical Garden of Ljubljana

The Ljubljana Botanical Garden is a favorite place for walks not only for city dwellers, but also tourists, one of the main sights of the capital. The official name of the scientific and cultural center is the Botanical Garden of the University of Ljubljana . Its peculiarity lies in the fact that since its foundation (1810), it has never ceased to function.

The History of the National Monument

The Ljubljana Botanical Garden is the oldest in south-eastern Europe. He is a member of the World Organization of such gardens, and the 200th anniversary was marked by the release of a rare coin. The idea of ​​creating a botanical garden belongs to the first Mayor of Ljubljana - Marshal August Marmont and the first director - Frank Chladnik. Since 1920, the management of the garden has passed to the state university of the country, as a result of which the Botanical Garden of Ljubljana became the department of biology of the faculty of the same name. One third of them are represented by the local flora, and the rest is brought from different countries.

The Ljubljana Botanical Garden is open every day from April to October: from 07:00 to 19:00, and from all three summer months from June to August - from 7:00 to 20:00. In winter, or rather, from November to March - from 7:30 to 17:00. Visitors can purchase T-shirts, books and plants as souvenirs.

It is necessary to specify the operating time of each individual part, for example, a tropical greenhouse works every day from 10:00 to 16:45. The tea house works only since March, and the Tivoli greenhouse is closed on Mondays, but on the remaining days it works from 11:00 to 17:00.

When visiting, it is important to follow generally accepted rules. The tracks are designed exclusively for pedestrians, so the cars are banned. When visiting with dogs pets should be on a leash.
