How to store greens?

Fresh greens are included in the diet of each person. But with the arrival of cold weather, you have to think about how to preserve the greens . In the new models of refrigerators there is now a special "zero" camera, perfectly suitable for storing greenery, but if you do not have such a compartment in the refrigerator, then we suggest you use other methods.

How correctly to store greens?

There are several ways to store fresh greens. You can use a glass jar for this: we release the bundles from the threads, cut off the roots and discard the rotten parts. Then pour cold water into a deep bowl, add the grass to a container and rinse it thoroughly. On the table, we take a paper towel, moisten the greens and leave to dry for 15 minutes. Then add it to a dry glass jar, close it with a clean plastic lid, put it in the refrigerator. Just remember that without the influx of air, spicy herbs - parsley, dill and celery - can be stored for weeks 3, and delicate plants - marjoram, lettuce and coriander - are stored much less.

You can also save the greens in a conventional plastic bag. To do this, we trawl the grass, remove the rotten leaves and, without washing, add them to a tight package. We tie it so that the balloon is puffed inside and put in the fridge. In this way, the beams will persist for a week.

In the fridge, the greens can remain fresh for about 5-7 days. To do this, you only need to wrap the twigs in a slightly damp napkin and put them in a closed polyethylene bag. And you can tie the greens in a bun and put it in a tall glass, half full of water. Top with a second package and clean in the refrigerator. Now only change the water about once every two days.

But in the freezer you can keep the useful properties of greenery even before spring. To do this, wash the greens with warm water, shake and lightly dry on a towel. Dill and peppermint are wrapped in small portions in foil, and sage, thyme and parsley is cut and placed in a closed plastic container with a tight lid.

How to store dried herbs?

And, of course, finally, I would like to say a few words about dried herbs, which is preserved for a very long time and does not lose its taste qualities over time, but acquires them on the contrary. So, fresh grass is washed, shake off the liquid and slightly dried on a towel. Then we connect the greens into bundles and hang them in a dry, ventilated room, but not in the kitchen above the stove or sink. You can cut the greens into parts, spread out on a grid and dry for about 7 days. Store it best in a dry place at room temperature.
