Any grapes are liana by nature. If you provide him with enough light, getting this light on the leaf plates, the plant will develop harmoniously. The easiest way to ensure these conditions with trellis. In this article we will touch upon the question of the types of trellis for grapes and their sizes.
Types of trellis vine
There are single- and double-plane trellises, there are also methods of growing on arches, g-shaped supports. As for the first two methods, they are very similar to each other. The only difference is that the two-plane trellis looks like a slingshot, it's like a bifurcated single-plane trellis.
For single-plane trellises for grapes the following sizes are recommended:
- the dimensions of the trellis columns under the grapes are usually within 220 cm (for a comfortable work, experts recommend choosing such a height that you can comfortably reach out to the tops of bushes);
- These supports should be placed about every three to four meters so that they can withstand the weight of even a massive bush;
- followed by the dimensions of a single-lane trellis for grapes, concerning the location of the tensioned wire: the bottom is stretched about 30 cm from the soil, the second - at a distance of 40 cm from the first;
- all subsequent to the upper edge of the order of 50 cm - all this will allow the light to penetrate deep into the bush and prevent the appearance of the fungus.
The second type of support is practically the same, and the size of the trellis under the grapes will be as follows:
- The distance between the two planes at the top of the structure should be within 100-150 cm;
- to calculate the distance between two rows of trellises, you need to multiply the chosen height by a factor of 2 (for example, you have chosen a trellis of 2 m height, so there should be at least 4 meters between the two rows).
The presented sizes of trellises for grapes will allow to simplify process of cultivation of bushes, and also to receive a qualitative crop.
