We sew a long chiffon dress with our own hands

Chiffon dress is made very easily, for this you do not need to have a huge experience in sewing. First of all, you need to remove standard measurements for the dress (waist and hips, chest girth, shoulder length and, of course, the length of the most up-to-date chiffon dress). Then choose the fabric and get to work!

1. Chiffon is both bright colors and pastel. For example, a delicate peach color suits the light texture of this material. Chiffon dress of this shade will look very feminine: you will not lose by choosing just such a fabric.
2. After choosing a chiffon, you can start cutting the material. Our product will consist of two parts - this is, respectively, the bodice of the dress and the maxi skirt. According to the measurements taken in advance, make a paper pattern of the bodice, and then transfer it to the fabric.
3. You need to cut out two such details: one for the backrest and one for the transfer. In the figure, you see the so-called symmetrical pattern, which is given in half size: to get the whole detail, place the pattern on the folded fabric, cut and unfold it.
4. The skirt of a chiffon dress is sewn simple. Prepare a rectangular cut of fabric, the width of which is equal to the volume of your hips, multiplied by 3. This coefficient assumes an average puffiness skirt. If you want to make it even more magnificent, you should multiply by 3.5, and if you want a less flared dress - by 2. Do not forget about the lining, because chiffon is a very thin and transparent fabric. The lining is usually made slightly shorter than the chiffon part, which looks very elegant. As a lining fabric you can take silk, crepe de Chine or the same chiffon.
5. By the way, it's not necessary to cut chiffon fabric: it splits perfectly with hands, and the line of rupture will be perfectly even. Cut the edges of the fabric on the sewing machine so that they do not fall off.
6. Make a vertical stitch along the wrong side, joining the rectangle along the short edge.
7. In order for a skirt to look good on your figure, use an ordinary wide elastic band. Correctly measure its length should be as follows: slightly stretch the elastic on the waist and add to the resulting number of another 3 cm allowance.
8. Belt, which you need to wear an elastic band, should be approximately equal to its width plus 5 mm. Because the chiffon is well-lit, fold the fabric on the top of the skirt two or even three times and stitch it.
9. Leave a small piece of fabric not stitched: through this hole, insert the rubber band into the waistband of the skirt.
10. Then sew the both ends of the elastic with each other and do not forget to fasten it, gently sewing by hand an imperceptible seam. The skirt of your dress is ready! An alternative to the elastic band can serve as a neat snake, but then the skirt itself will need to be sewn a little differently - from two parts.
11. As you can see, this dress from chiffon is two separate parts - the bodice and the skirt, which can be worn together or separately.
