Sometimes it's so desirable to make a birdhouse, but many people are stopped by the fact that there are only plastic bottles from materials that do not look particularly organic on trees. But it turns out even from a plastic bottle you can make an interesting birdhouse. Let's figure out how to make a birdhouse from a bottle with our own hands and what we need for this.
How to make a birdhouse from a bottle?
So, before proceeding to the direct description of the manufacture of a birdhouse, let's determine what materials will be useful to us during this process:
- 2-liter bottle (for making a birdhouse, a 2-liter bottle is best suited, although if you want to get a larger feeder, you can make a birdhouse from a 5-liter bottle);
- marker;
- circle pattern;
- drill;
- wooden dowel;
- round pliers;
- art knife;
- acrylic paint;
- cosmetic sponge (in order to apply paint);
- thin brush;
- wax paper;
- CD-ROM drive;
- heat gun;
- scissors;
- the wire;
- rope (in order to hang a birdhouse);
- glue;
- adhesive tape.
With the materials we have decided, so now you can go to the process of making a birdhouse from a plastic bottle.
- Remove the label from the bottle. Then, using a stencil and a marker, draw a circle on the bottle, stepping back from the bottom about three centimeters. Using a drill, drill a hole, stepping back a centimeter from the previously cut window. Insert a wooden dowel into the drilled hole and secure it with the glue on the inside of the bottle. Get a comfortable perch for birds.
- Spread waxed paper on the desktop and pour a small amount of brown paint on it. Then use a sponge to apply the paint to the entire surface of the plastic bottle. Wait until the paint layer has dried, and apply one more. Repeat this operation until the paint has covered the whole bottle with a beautiful bright layer.
- Drill a hole on the lid of the bottle and insert a piece of wire there so that you get a loop that you can then hang the birdhouse. Both ends of the wire that will be in the inside of the lid, twist with the help of round-nosed pliers to fix them.
- Make a stencil of the window. For these purposes, you can use both plastic and paper. Thoroughly apply the paint through the stencil with a sponge. Be careful, since if you take too much paint on the sponge, it will flow out of the screen, distorting the features of the future window.
- In order to make a shingles in a birdhouse, you will need CDs. Heat them with a heat gun, and then gently cut with scissors. If the discs crack, then it means that you did not heat them up enough. When all the CDs are cut, place the pieces on the wax paper with the plastic side up. Then use a sponge to paint on your shingles. To achieve an interesting color, you can first apply black paint, then light brown and finish green.
- Glue the first row of shingles, stepping back from the neck of the bottle about five centimeters down. In order to keep the shingles well, they can first be glued to the glue, and then fixed with adhesive tape. Layer the tiles to each other so that they look like real tilework.
