Scrapbooking: a master class

Probably no single handicraft technique is as exclusive as scrapbooking. Any crafts with a prefix "scrap-" ( albums , notebooks , postcards) are not just original, but are done literally in a single copy. And all because the source materials for this type of creativity are selected individually. Let's get acquainted with the craft of scrapbooking on the example of making a simple miniature album.

Master-class "How to make an album in the scrapbooking technique?"

  1. Before you start direct production of the album, you should carefully think over its contents, plan out what each page will be. Scrap-album can be dedicated to some event (for example, wedding or birthday), or to represent a whole period of time (school years, pregnancy period, etc.).
  2. First, prepare the pages for the album. To make them stronger, use plain cardboard for the base. Yes, it does not look very aesthetically pleasing, but you can always paste a bright, colorful substrate of designer paper on it.
  3. So, prepare the necessary number of pages and spill them in such a way to get folds in the right places. Use the creasing tool to create bends in four places on the cardboard sheet.
  4. Now we are going to create the cover of our mini-album. You will need two square sheets, cut from a thicker cardboard (very elegantly look rounded corners). Paper for scrapbooking, from which we make an album, can be purchased in stores for creativity. Typically, to create albums use:
  • All of them must necessarily harmonize among themselves in color and design, complementing each other.
  • So, on a small rectangle of paper or soft cardboard, designed for the cover, glue the tape around the center.
  • On the reverse side, arrange the two cardboard boxes so that their outer edges match the left and right edges of the cover.
  • The sheets of the substrate (in the figure they are light green in color) gently bend in the shape of the letter M and paste on cardboard pages. Fold them with an accordion and then glue on each of the two cardboard squares.
  • The main thing for an album is, of course, its contents. Photos, tags, inscriptions and so-called journaling (comments to the photo) should be nicely placed on the pages of the album. All these elements must be relevant to the topic and be significant to the owner of the album or the gifted person (in case this is a gift). In addition, as you can see, it is not necessary to make an inscription for each photo in scrapbooking. They should look relevant and meet in the album only sporadically.
  • Fold the "accordion" and tie both ribbons to the bow. Tapes - one of the most popular ways of fastening in scrapbooking, as it is convenient, and beautiful. The cover of the album itself will also be on tapes.
  • The resulting mini-album is a bit like a purse. This form will be its highlight - after all, as already mentioned, any scrap in the scrapbooking technique is interesting and creative in its own way.
  • In exactly the same way as described in the presented scrapbooking master class, you can make a small notebook or children's album dedicated to a particular age (for example, from birth to a year).
