How to make a dream catcher?

Perhaps you saw in the bedroom of someone from friends a design in the form of a circle with feathers, which is suspended under the ceiling above the bed. And they were wondering - what kind of decoration is this and what is it intended for?

Why do we need a dream catcher?

The dream catcher is a talisman that hangs over the bed and protects the sleeper from bad dreams, nightmares and sleep disorders .

The dream catcher looks like a web of threads stretched on a circle. In addition, weave beads and feathers into it.

Legend has it that by placing such a protector of dreams over the head of the bed, bad dreams get confused in the web. While good dreams slip through it. Therefore, every such catcher necessarily has a hole in the middle so that good dreams can pass through it.

However, in order for the dream trap to begin its action, it is necessary to make it yourself, because in the process of creating the catcher you fill it with your inner energy. Of course, you can buy a ready catcher of dreams in the store, but he will not perform his basic function - to protect from nightmares and bad dreams. And most of the traded catchers differ in bright, screaming colors. Although it is desirable that the trap for dreams be performed in light and calm tones.

If you had a good dream, but you can not remember it, it is believed that by touching the catcher of dreams immediately after awakening, you will have memories of a dream.

How to make a dream catcher yourself: a master class

Before making a trap for dreams, you need to prepare the materials:

The most difficult thing is to find a suitable willow rod. If you want to make a real dream catcher, able to perform his magical action, then you must follow certain conditions for its creation.

So, do the catcher in the spring or summer. You need to find the willow, break off the twig and soak it in a basin of water. It will become softer and the rod can be bent.

Next, you can proceed directly to create a trap. There is a scheme how to make a dream catcher, which is presented in the photo below.

  1. We take the willow rod and turn it into a circle with a diameter of at least 30 cm. The skeleton of the trap was obtained.
  2. To fix the circle, we bind it with a string. It is best to use thread floss, they are stronger and better hold.
  3. Now we begin to weave in a circle "spiderweb". We fix the thread on the rod, divert it and throw the end of the thread through the bars.
  4. A semicircle is formed through which we stretch the thread.
  5. We do the same actions further on a circle until then, until we reach the place where the weaving began. The Indians believed that there should be eight touches of thread with the skeleton of a trap for dreams. Thus, inside turned out a rhombus.
  6. We begin to make the second circle. Only now do the knot in the center of the previous thread.
  7. After we weaved the spider web and left in the middle a small hole on the tip of the thread we fix the bead.
  8. At the top of the trap for the dreams we tie a string, for which we will hang the structure to the ceiling.
  9. Below tie one or three threads at will, to which we attach feathers, beads or other ornaments. Some hang down pebbles.

Another tip: if you did not succeed in finding the willow tree, then as an alternative you can use for the base some hoop, for example, a hoop.

The dream catcher, made with his own hands, will serve not only to decorate your room, but also to protect from bad dreams.
