Fibrous-cavernous tuberculosis

One of the complications of pulmonary tuberculosis is fibrous-cavernous tuberculosis. It is a cluster of fibrous scars on the cavern, which leads to the inhibition of respiratory function and other unpleasant consequences. In most cases the therapy allows to curtail the process of growth of fibrous tissue and to translate tuberculosis into a lighter form, for example - cirrhotic.

Phases of fibro-cavernous tuberculosis and signs of disease

Initially, fibrous scar on the cavern practically do not make itself felt, in the early phases the disease proceeds asymptomatically. Only after 1,5-3 years the patient can have such manifestations of tuberculosis, as subfebrile body temperature, increased sweating and cough with sputum discharge. At the next stage, the contractility of the cavity decreases and the patient can face such phenomena as dyspnea and hemoptysis. It is very likely that the infiltrate will move away, which makes the disease contagious. So if you doubt whether fibro-cavernous tuberculosis is contagious, or not, be guided by the symptoms. There was a cough - it means that the patient must be completely isolated in a specialized institution.

Treatment of fibro-tricky tuberculosis

The peculiarity of the disease is that the resistance of MBT to antibiotics develops rather quickly. In this regard, active chemotherapy is used with a complex of drugs and surgical treatment can be prescribed. As additional measures, physiotherapy and diet No. 11 are shown. The sooner a diagnosis is made, the more chances are that the disease will be stopped.
