Pirate's hat with your own hands

The pirate hat of the cocked hat was a distinctive attribute of sea robbers as early as the 17th century. Today it is difficult to imagine a pirate costume without a characteristic black hat with symbolic bones and skull. Whether you have an adult or a children's party in pirate style or a children's party, this accessory is indispensable, so consider how to make a pirate hat yourself.

1. To make a pirate hat with your own hands, you will need a black thick cloth. If you have a thin fabric, you can try to sew all the details in two layers. The first stage is a pattern of a pirate hat. We measure the circumference of the head, the other measures will not be needed. The circumference of the head will become the length of the crown and the length of the circumference of the bottom of the hat. The inner circumference of the hat's fields will also be equal to the circumference of the head, their length should be about 15 cm. The shape of the crown can be made slightly curved, so that the hat looks more beautiful.
2. So, we start to sew the resulting fragments. From the four semicircles of the fields we make two circles. In principle, it is more convenient to initially cut circles, instead of semicircles, but in order to save tissue, this is a more acceptable option. Both stitch strips (outer and inner) are stitched, closing each into a circle.
3. Then we work with two-sided details. We add the margins to the outside, fix them. The details of the trunk are folded in seams.
4. We draw the fields of the hat along the outer contour, after which we turn them onto the front side. In order for them to look better, smooth the seam and make another line already on the visible side.
5. After assembling the details of the crown, we connect them with the bottom of the pirate hat. We turn the top of the hat and smooth the lines with an iron.
6. Now we sew the fields. It is advisable to make four marks for the beginning - on the sides, behind and in the front. They will serve as tentative points to make the hat smooth. We make an overlock seam. In addition, you can attach the braid to the bottom seam. Now you know how to sew a pirate hat, you just have to iron it and finish the finishing touches.
7. A pirate hat, created by our own hands, must now acquire its robber appearance. For this, symbols of piracy - the skull and bones - are sewn on the center of the front part of the trunk. A mark can be found in almost any department with accessories, in extreme cases, it can simply be printed and cut from paper. Along the sides of the skull and exactly in the center behind we lift up the fields and sew up to make a triangle.
