What is Geksoral?
Before deciding whether Geoxoral can be pregnant, it must be said that such a drug belongs to a group of antiseptic drugs that adversely affect most pathogens. The drug is used for local disinfection and is often prescribed for lesions of the throat and nose (laryngitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis).
Produced in the form of tablets, a solution for rinsing the throat or spray. The medicine is prescribed for various kinds of ENT diseases and helps to completely clean the oral cavity of pathogenic bacteria. In addition, it can be used both as a prophylactic agent, and also after carrying out operations on the ENT organs.
Is it possible to use Geksoral during pregnancy?
According to the instructions that come with the drug, the very fact of pregnancy is not a contraindication to the use of the drug. However, it should be noted that the booklet also indicates that no research has been conducted into the effects of the components of the drug on the baby's organism and the expectant mother. That is why it is impossible to say with complete certainty that the medicine does not penetrate the placental barrier.
This fact indicates that the use of Geksoral for treatment of the throat by pregnant women should be necessarily coordinated with the doctor.
How do you usually take the drug during pregnancy?
Most often, the dosage of the drug Geksoral looks as follows: 1 Spray the spray in the mouth, for 1-3 seconds. As for the solution, usually 10-15 ml is administered at a time, which is used to rinse the oral cavity. Pre-dilute the drug is not required. The duration of rinsing - 1-2 minutes, you can spend 2 procedures a day (morning and evening).
The dosages given are exemplary, i.e. the exact amount of the drug and the frequency of its use, especially in pregnancy, should be indicated by the doctor.
Is it possible to use all of Geksoral during pregnancy and what side effects can be observed when using it?
As already mentioned above, the use of Geksoral for sore throats during pregnancy, regardless of the term (2, 3 trimester), is possible only after consultation with the doctor. It is due to the fact that this medication, like any medication, has its own contraindications, among which:
individual intolerance; - the presence of allergic reactions in the anamnesis;
- low concentration of cholinesterase (a special enzyme) in the blood;
- ulcerative, erosive lesions of the nasal and oral cavities.
These contraindications do not allow the use of Hexoral, including during pregnancy.
As for side effects when using Geksoral, they are few. Among them, you can identify allergic reactions, change the work of taste buds (there is a taste distortion), nausea, vomiting, which is most often observed when dosages are exceeded. To avoid this, strictly follow medical appointments.
