Throughout our life, we communicate with each other every day. Someone this communication is given easily and simply, and someone to find a common language with others seems impossible task. Why is this happening? After all, we all seem to be speaking the same language, and so we must understand each other. It turns out that in the process of communication, not only words carry a semantic load - facial expressions, intonation and gestures play no less important role .

Barriers arising in communication are obstacles that grow in the way of understanding the interlocutor. This kind of obstacle can serve as the temperament of a person, his character, emotional state, and also the manner of communication.

Types of barriers in communication

The psychology of communication barriers is divided into four main types: situational, motivational, semantic and psychological barriers of communication. So, let's look at each species separately.

  1. Situational barriers - arise because of the different views of partners on the same problem. For example, one interlocutor can sympathize with a group of noisy guys discussing a topic, while another partner will be annoyed by the noise emanating from children without going into the essence of the conversation.
  2. Motivational barriers - arise when a person hides the real motives of his statements, or simply does not realize their significance.
  3. Semantic barriers - arise because of a lack of understanding of the essence of the conversation of one's interlocutor. Difficulties and barriers of communication, in this case, arise when a person can not understand the partner's idea and does not understand what the conversation is about.
  4. Psychological barriers are a kind of inner barrier that inhibits a person in communication. Most often, he appears because of fear of being misunderstood, disliked by the interlocutor or run into a malicious mockery on the part of the partner and be rejected, despite the most sincere manifestations of good intentions.

Communicative barriers in communication

Communicative barriers in communication arise from the internal psychological obstacle and external phenomena that stand in the way of acceptance or transmission of information between the interlocutors.

Since there is no single classification of communicative barriers, we consider two main types of this barrier:

  1. External communication barriers - in the emergence of these barriers, not only people are guilty, but also any circumstances, physical conditions that are not dependent on the will of people and not subject to the leading conversation people. The reason for the emergence of a language barrier may be not only strong noise or adverse weather conditions, but also a misunderstanding due to the fact that the interlocutors speak different languages.
  2. Internal communication barriers are a much more difficult problem, which you need to struggle with for a long time and diligently. The internal barrier can arise because of the reasons preventing to objectively evaluate the information received from the interlocutor. They can serve as banal irritation partner against the background of his appearance, and personal dislike for the person as a person.

Communicative barriers in business communication can be detrimental to your career, so they need to be overcome. In fact, they are present exactly until you decide to get rid of them and do not think about it. Practice overcoming barriers in communication, give more attention to the interlocutor and show genuine interest, then for you, communication barriers will forever remain in the past.

To manage in our life without barriers to interpersonal communication is almost impossible, except that only communicate with people who are pleasant to us, and you understand that this is not always possible. The task facing every member of society is to determine the type of its barrier of misunderstanding in the process of communication and to apply the most effective way of its elimination.
