Tempering of children

It was only a little colder, and your baby is already streaming snot, coughing began or the temperature rose. And again a pass in the kindergarten, again taking medication. If the baby has an ORVI once a month - it's not uncommon, parents start thinking about tempering children at home. It has long been known that the best treatment is the prevention of the disease.

Child Tempering System

Tempering is called a system of special procedures aimed at strengthening the body's defenses, increasing resistance to adverse environmental factors. Many parents mistakenly think that child's tempering means exposure only to cold. On the contrary, the contrast of cold and heat is important, when the vessels "learn" to react first to sharp heat, expanding, and then to cold, tapering.

It is important to follow the basic rules of tempering children:

  1. Regularity of lessons. If you took up the tempering of your child, then it must be done systematically, that is, every day. Otherwise, omissions in the procedures will reduce to "no" all previous efforts.
  2. Accounting for individual characteristics (age, state of health).
  3. Positive emotions. It is impossible to force children to be tempered, procedures should be carried out in a positive atmosphere.
  4. Hardening should be carried out only if the child is absolutely healthy.

Methods of tempering children are based on those environmental factors that most often lead to diseases: water, air and sun rays. In connection with this, the following tempering procedures are distinguished:

How to properly temper children?

Tempering a child to a year begins with the adoption of air baths. The optimum temperature of the room, where the baby spends time, is 23 ° С. In cold weather, you need to ventilate the room four times. In the summer, the window or window must always be open. Directly air baths are taken in a ventilated room at an air temperature of 20-22 ° C. The baby is freed from diapers and clothes. The first tempering of the kids lasts 2 minutes and is necessarily accompanied by gymnastics. Gradually the procedure is increased to 15 minutes for half-year-olds and up to half an hour for children under one year.

Hardening is also carried out for a walk. In the warm season, the duration of air baths on the street increases from half an hour to 5-8 hours. In winter, the baby should not walk for more than two hours. At temperatures below -5 ° C it is better to stay at home.

Tempering a child with cold water is the most popular kind. Begin water procedures can be from an infant age. The best start for hardening is summer or early autumn time.

Children under one year are prescribed doucheing twice a week after bathing. The water should be 1-2 ° C below the water in the bath. Gradually the temperature drops to a level of 24-25 ° C. From half a year it is possible to temper by wet wiping with a terry towel or mitten. The water temperature for this type of hardening in winter is 35-36 ° C, in the summer - 33-34 ° C. When the child reaches the year the temperature of the water gradually decreases to 20 ° C. From this age, it becomes possible to shower with a shower jet: first back, chest, then stomach and hands. The water for wiping must be at least 28 ° C.

From the age of two, the adoption of a contrasting soul is permitted.

At the age of 5-6 years and older, the water temperature can be lowered to 18 ° C.

Sun-bathing is not recommended for children under one year. In the autumn and spring, the sun's rays do not cause harm, so being under them at that time is not limited. In summer, the sun is quenched in the morning from 9 to 11 or in the evening from 17 to 18 hours. The first bath lasts no more than 5 minutes. After the child sunbaths, cooling in the pond is allowed. After water treatment, always wipe with a towel.

Thus, hardening should be a prerequisite for the upbringing of children. But the parents require moderation, gradualness and observance of the measure.
