Tradescantia Zebrina

Tradescantia zebrina is a perennial plant with creeping shoots about 60-80 cm long, on which alternate oval-shaped leaves are sharpened at the end. It is noteworthy that the underside of the leaves, like the shoots of the plant, is violet. And on the dark green top of the leaves are silver bands. There is another type of Tradescantia Zebrin - Violet Hill, easily recognizable by the violet leaf surface, along which all the same silvery stripes extend.

Care for Tradescantia Zebrina

  1. Lighting and air temperature. In general, Tradescantia Zebrin can not be called a light-loving plant, but to preserve the decorative properties, we recommend placing a pot near the eastern or western window. The optimal air temperature in the room in the summer is 23-26 degrees, in winter - within 8-12 degrees.
  2. Watering. Tradescantia zebrina prefers tempered watering, while in the warm season it is important that the soil in the pot was always wet and did not dry out. Better after watering, remove excess moisture from the pan. In addition, from time to time, spray the leaves with water.
  3. Top dressing. The introduction of complex fertilizers is carried out only in the warm season from April to September, twice a month. In autumn and winter, the Zedes is not needed for the transdescription.
  4. Transfer. In the care of the flower, Zebedrin's transdescription is important for a timely transplant. Young plants are transplanted annually, and adults - every two years. In a shallow wide pot, place a layer of drainage, and then pour in soil from 3 parts of leaf and turf ground and 1 piece of sand.
  5. Reproduction. Most often, the flower is propagated by cuttings, cutting off a piece of stalk with 2-3 leaves and placing it in the ground or sand. Large plants can be divided into several young flowers and planted in the spring.
