Pearl barley is a very useful product for human nutrition, it contains a lot of nutrients, most importantly, it's delicious to cook a pearl barley. Of course, the pearl barley in the form of porridge, even properly cooked and flavored with milk and / or butter, is somewhat boring, although quite healthy dish.

It is much more interesting to combine pearl barley with meat , mushrooms and various vegetables - it turns out tasty and useful.

How to cook a pearl barley with vegetables?

We will weld a crumbly barley, the rest (vegetables, meat, mushrooms) will be cooked separately.

Preparation

Thoroughly rinse pearl barley, fill it with cold water in a cauldron or pan and leave for swelling for at least 2-3 hours. Once again, we swipe the swollen barley, fill it with cold water in a ratio of 1: 3 and put the pan on the fire - cook. After boiling, reduce the fire to a weak one and cook for about 50 minutes, closing the lid, stirring occasionally. Ready-made pearl barley should not be porridge-gum, it should turn out friable.

It is possible to season a pearl bar with a piece of natural butter for taste, however, this is not necessary, since we will add other products to it, for example, stewed vegetables and / or stewed mushrooms or meat with gravy that was obtained during extinguishing, or cooked separately.

Stewed vegetables to pearl barley

We clean onions and carrots and finely cut with a knife. We do not use grater. Lightly weave the onions in a frying pan in vegetable oil over medium heat until light golden in color. We add carrots (or pumpkin). Stir, reduce fire and tushim all together for about 5-8 minutes.

Add the chopped sweet pepper. Cook all together on low heat under the lid, stirring occasionally, in a for another 8 minutes. Pour dry spices and pour diluted water in a ratio of 1: 1 or 1: 2 tomato paste. Stir and stew for about 3-5 minutes.

We serve stewed vegetables to the pearl barley. Sprinkle with chopped herbs and garlic. If you want to serve meat (any), you just have to put it out with onions and spices separately.

With mushrooms - the same way: stew them chopped with scrambled onions for 20 minutes. It is best to use champignons, oyster mushrooms or white, grown in artificial conditions or collected in places with normal ecology.
