The diastolic (lower) pressure shows the arterial pressure at the time of relaxation of the heart muscles and reflects the tone of the peripheral arteries. The normal diastolic pressure is 70 - 80 mmHg. But it is often noted that the figures do not reach this level. Why is there a very low diastolic pressure? Are low indicators always a criterion of ill health? We will find out what specialists think about this.
The main causes of low diastolic blood pressure
Medical practice shows that most often low diastolic pressure occurs in young and elderly people, as well as in individuals of asthenic type. In addition, if at low rates a person does not feel discomfort and leads a full life, then, most likely, he has genetic (hereditary) hypotension. But there are also pathological causes of low diastolic pressure, in which there are a number of painful symptoms:
- headache;
- dizziness and darkening in the eyes ;
- heart rhythm disorder;
- increased sweating;
- loss of strength, apathy;
- drowsiness;
- deterioration of memory and attention.
Frequent reduction of diastolic pressure provokes disturbances in metabolic processes in the brain and threatens the development of ischemic disease.
A one-time decrease in indicators can be observed in the following cases:
- dehydration of the body;
- vomiting and diarrhea due to food poisoning;
- long stay in a stuffy room or in the sun.
The cause of low diastolic pressure may be chronic diseases:
- kidney pathology;
- cardiovascular disorders;
- pathology of the endocrine system, in the first place, hypothyroidism of the thyroid and adrenal glands;
- peptic ulcer of the gastrointestinal tract;
- allergy ;
- oncological diseases;
- inflammatory and infectious processes in the body.
Other causes of low diastolic blood pressure
The causes of low diastolic pressure in women are conditions associated with a decrease in hemoglobin in the blood and
- pregnancy;
- heavy childbirth;
- nutritional restrictions, especially with mono-diets based on consumption of a minimum number of products;
- profuse or protracted menstruation.
Sometimes, low diastolic pressure is noted during acclimatization during crossings, depressive states, and uncontrolled intake of certain pharmaceutical preparations.
