Nasonex nose spray is a hormonal anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic drug. Produced by Nazonex in vials, the nasal cavity of the drug is introduced through a special nebulizer.
Indications for use of the Nazonex spray
Nasonex nasal spray is used in therapy:
- allergic rhinitis;
- acute sinusitis ;
- chronic sinusitis;
- acute rhinosinusitis without marked signs of bacterial infection;
- polyposis of the nose, accompanied by difficulty breathing and decreased sense of smell;
- complications arising in the nasopharynx, including, sinusitis.
Also, the drug is used as a prophylactic for seasonal and allergic rhinitis.
Contraindications for use
As a rule, Nazonex is well tolerated by the body, but there are some contraindications to its use in therapy. It is inadmissible to use the drug:
- with excessive sensitivity to the components in the formulation of the drug;
- immediately after surgery, as well as with nasal injuries associated with damage to the mucosa;
- for treatment of children under 2 years with seasonal and allergic rhinitis all year round;
- in the treatment of children under 12 years of age with acute and chronic sinusitis;
- in the therapy of polyposis before reaching the age of 18.
Care must be taken in the use of the medicinal product if:
- tuberculosis infection;
- fungal, bacterial and viral infection associated with damage to the eye tissues.
Dosage of the drug
The recommended dose of Nasonex is two inhalations in each nasal passage twice a day. When reducing manifestations of the disease, it is recommended to reduce the number of injections to once a day.
Attention! Experts insist on the observance of dosage volumes, since the use of the drug Nazonex in high doses can lead to oppression of the work of certain departments of the endocrine system (adrenal, hypothalamus, pituitary).
Side effects
Occasionally, if you use a spray from the Nazonex allergy, you may experience side effects. The most common are the following:
- nosebleeds ;
- pharyngitis;
- failure in the functioning of the adrenal glands;
- change in intraocular pressure.
With prolonged use, irritation of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and pharynx can be noted. The presence of side effects is a good reason for the withdrawal of Nazonex spray.
