How to transplant peonies in the summer?

Who among us does not know what peonies look like? These bright fragrant flowers adorn our flower beds and front gardens long enough to become quite a familiar part of the landscape. And although these flowers are rather unpretentious, they still do not tolerate negligence in their care. Especially it concerns such an important operation as pion transplantation. For how many years you can not transplant peonies and at what time it is better to engage in their transplantation, and our article will be devoted.

When should peonies be transplanted?

Correctly planted and receiving a regular care, a pi bush can safely grow and blossom in the same place for 10-15 years. But if the bush is planted incorrectly, for example, excessively or not deeply enough, then it will be necessary to transplant it in the near future. The sign of the need for transplantation to the florist will be the appearance of the bush - an incorrectly planted bush will wither, ache, grow poorly and, most importantly, the flowers from it will not wait.

At what time should you replace the peonies?

The long practice of growing pions in domestic conditions shows that the best time for their transplantation is the end of summer. In the last decade of August, peonies accumulate enough nutrients to bookmark flower buds and growth buds for the coming season, and direct forces to grow the root system. It was at this time that the transplanted pions have maximum chances to safely take root and grow stronger before the onset of cold weather.

Is it possible to transplant peonies in other summer months, for example, in July? Experienced growers are sure - without special need peonies during this period should not be alarmed. The fact is that the processes occurring in pions in the first two thirds of summer are commensurate with pregnancy - the peonies accumulate nutrients, form the kidneys. Therefore, they no longer have the capacity to acclimatize to a new place of power.

Transplant pions growing in the open ground in June and July can only be in case of emergency, for example, when their roots are a victim of mole or rodents. At the same time, there is a high probability that a bush of such untimely migration will not survive. But, we will make a reservation at once that the foregoing refers to the bushes of pions growing in the open ground. Peonies bought in flower shops growing in pots, can be transplanted into the open ground immediately after flowering. In this case, they must be planted together with an earthen lump in which they are in a pot.

It is also possible to have a spring pawn transplant, but at the same time the bush remains weakened for a long time, which means that it needs more careful care and care. In addition, the pions replanted in the spring in summer do not bloom.
