When King Christian V was in power, he wanted to make Copenhagen the capital of the European class. From the Kongens Nyutor square, its construction began. The first architectural structure was the palace Charlottenborg. It was built almost 30 years from Dutch materials and partly from the ruined Kalo Castle in 1672.

The architect was the best architect of the Danish royal family, Yurt Jenssen. He created a palace in the style of palladio, which at that time was very popular in Holland. Decorations and details of the palace are created in the baroque style. The interior is very similar to the classic of the French castle - ballrooms, balconies, stucco molding and ceiling painting create a unique atmosphere in the castle. The combination of several directions of architecture made Charlottenborg a unique architectural creation of that time. The Tuscan portal, the central rizalit, which decorates the Corinthian pilasters, amazes the imagination to this day.
