SUPERKILLEN

On the outskirts of the city, on an area of more than 30 thousand square meters. The unique creation of modernity is located - the Superkilen park in Copenhagen . It is a wild mix of architecture, landscape design and unusual pieces of outdoor furniture.

General information about the park

There is a park in one of the once troubled areas of Copenhagen - Nørrebro, two kilometers from the center of the capital. And it is the multiculturalism of the population living here that played a decisive role in the construction of the Supergylen. In Nørrebro live about 70 thousand people, representatives of various nationalities and religions. This factor was the root cause of constant conflicts, as a result of which the region was an inexhaustible source of negative incidents.

In 2007, after a mass disturbance of striking proportions, the administration of Copenhagen together with the Realdania Foundation announced a competition for the best plan for building pogromed streets. About 8 million euros were collected and put into the project "Superkilen". The main task for the winners of the competition was to transform the cultural diversity of the district into its main advantage. The tandem of three creative groups - Bjarke Ingels Group, Superflex and Topotek1 - after years of hard work in 2012 presented the world with a unique creation of urban architecture in Denmark - the Superkilen park.

Exterior features of the park Superkilen

Today Superkilen is not just a park zone. In a way, it is like an original exhibition of nationalities and cultural features of the whole world. Many elements of street decor were imported or copied from well-known foreign projects. Roughly speaking, the Superkilen is a gigantic collection of objects in the open air that symbolize or carry the features of the native countries of local residents. At the same time near each exhibit is a sign with the indication of what kind of thing and where it came from. You can find here and a swing from Iraq, and neon signs with the advertisement of the Russian hotel, and even urns from England.

The park space is conventionally divided into three zones: red, black and green. At the same time, each carries its own conceptual load. In the red zone, it is most comfortable to go in for sports, weekly on it fairs are held, and other cultural events are organized periodically.

The black zone of the Super-Kilins is called the "living room" by the citizens themselves. It created all the conditions for visitors to the park to quietly retire and play a few games in chess or backgammon. Immediately one can see such interesting exhibits as the Moroccan fountain and Chinese palm trees.

The green zone is the most rich in playgrounds and entertainment. In addition, no one forbids holding picnics, walking a dog or just lying on the green grass.

Through the entire park area, several bicycle paths are laid. In addition, these tracks are associated with the velostructure of the surrounding city as a whole, in order to integrate the park into a network of public space and transport.
