Denmark deservedly called the "Pearl of the Scandinavian Peninsula". On its miniature territory there is a large number of historical and cultural treasures, which are focused on walks and excursions. But, of course, there is also a place for entertainment. The most favorite and memorable is the amusement park Dirhavsbakken, or simply Bakken.
What is famous for the amusement park?
Park Bakken in Copenhagen has its own original and very interesting history. One day a little girl was walking around the neighborhood of Durenhavn, not far from the royal reindeer yard, and found a small spring beating from under the earth. She took water from it and brought it home, it turned out that this water has magical and healing properties. This news, the locals, eager for miracles, took it with great joy. After a certain time, this territory became a favorite place for rest and pleasant pastime with the local population. Began to appear buffoons and inns. Then the first primitive rides-swings with slides were installed. The spring has been forgotten for a long time, but this place has become famous all over the world and is called the amusement park Dirhavsbakken.
The park was opened in the sixteenth century in 1538 and, by right, is considered the oldest in the world. Bakken in Copenhagen is the second most important landmark in the country and the tenth in Europe. There are more than one hundred and fifty attractions that are popular not only among children, but also in the adult population, because not for nothing, and it is visited by two and a half million tourists annually. The current owners of the park really wanted to preserve the history and spirit of Denmark in the sixteenth century, so they tried to decorate not only the attractions, but also the entire park environment under the Middle Ages.
What can I see in the park?
The amusement park Dirhavsbakken includes a huge selection of attractions for different age categories and any preferences - this is a huge number of swings, carousels, slides. Here there are more than forty cafes offering both national Danish dishes , as well as European cuisine, music bars and so on. You can find all kinds of slot machines, amazing kiosks with jokes and funny prizes. Pleases holidaymakers and, the only one in the whole world, the Danish music hall, called "Bakkens Hvile", with the beauties of the cabaret. His age has long passed for a hundred and seventy years. Previously, music halls were popular and distributed throughout Denmark, and now only the Bucken version remained. The youngest guests too will not be left without attention, for them such entertainments are presented:
- The highlight of the complex is the white clown Pierrot. This is one of the most famous puppet characters, who performs three times a day. He shows interesting tricks, funny numbers, holds contests for physical and mental warm-up.
- Visiting the biggest and merry in all Denmark circus revue, which will please both kids and their parents.
- Outdoors, you can see the theatrical action of various characters: badger Earl, Mr. Deer, hedgehog Peter and others.

Not far from Park Bakken there is a deer reserve, the area of which is 1100 hectares, and it is called Deer Park (officially called Jægersborg Deer Park). Here everyone has the opportunity to relax and enjoy nature, to have a small picnic and the most important thing is to observe the life of these bambi in their natural environment. Entrance to the reserve is free.
How to visit?
You can reach Bakken Park in Copenhagen by public transport , for example, by train to Klampenborg station or by buses 1A, 185, 388 to Dyrehaven stop. The complex operates in the warm season: from March 31 to August 28, and the time of its operation does not allow visitors to enjoy all the entertainment offered in one day. The cost of the ticket is influenced not only by the age of the guests of the park, but even by a specific date, so it is worthwhile to be interested in price right before the trip to the beautiful country of Denmark.
