The first signs of anorexia can be easily recognized even in an outsider, simply by looking at it. However, this is only the external side of the question. Symptoms of the disease are even more repulsive.

Anorexia: symptoms of the disease

The main symptom of the disease is an obsessive desire to lose weight, even if the figure already looks very slim. It is because of this state that all other signs develop. How to determine anorexia? Simply: if there are 2 or more symptoms from the list, it is likely that anorexia develops:

  1. Impairment of appetite. Portions of food eaten are getting smaller, sometimes sick girls claim that they just ate or feel bad, so as to completely give up eating.
  2. Sharp weight loss. The arrow of the scales falls and falls, but this does not provoke anorexia patients to change their diet. If the weight is 15 - 20% less than the lower limit of the norm, this is an excuse to sound the alarm.
  3. Increased fatigue. As soon as she has washed herself, the girl suffering from anorexia already feels tired and exhausted, like after heavy physical labor. In addition, there may develop a constant desire to sleep or spend time horizontally.
  4. Absence of monthly . This is the most disturbing symptom, which can lead to a lot of complications, including infertility. While scientists have not quite figured out why this is happening, but the fact remains: many girls who have too reduced their weight, remain without menstrual discharge.
  5. Development of chronic diseases. Due to the lack of vitamins and necessary minerals, the functions of some organs begin to fade, in connection with which various diseases develop. Usually it only applies to extreme cases, when the girls bring themselves to a weight of about 30 kilograms.

For such symptoms anorexia is easy to find out. The main thing is to stop and take action in time, because in the future such a way of life can only aggravate the problems that have arisen.

Causes of anorexia

Most often anorexia develops in adolescents, because it is at this age that information from the outside usually affects the worldview most strongly. Also the reason can be:

  1. Congestion in behavior. If a person does not have the ability to stop on time, it can and affect the food side.
  2. Low self-esteem . If a girl wears herself out with diets because she considers herself fat, although she is not, this means that the therapist needs to treat anorexia.
  3. The need for love. If the girl was puffy, and noticed how people began to reach for her after losing weight, there is a possibility that she will not be able to stop, unconsciously trying, like people in such a way that once brought her luck.
  4. Unhealthy situation in the family or close environment. When a person experiences psychological discomfort, it can cause a variety of consequences, and anorexia is no exception.

Today, when the media offer a standard of excessive slenderness, choosing for covers of fashion magazines of models with a zero size, it is increasingly difficult for girls to understand when it's time to stop losing weight. Often such problems can be solved only by a psychologist or psychotherapist.
