Transplanting

Garden cares continue all year round. Even in the cold winter, the truck farmer has something to do - preparation for growing seedlings begins. If you want to get seedlings on time, then in January you need to check whether you have everything ready for this.

The soil for planting seedlings is best harvested from autumn. If you do not have time to do this, buy ready-mixed soil in the store. In the event that the soil you have from the garden - it is necessary to bake it in the oven or to treat it with any preparations against pests.

Containers for transplanting seedlings should also be prepared in advance. If these are old pots, then you need to wash them thoroughly, removing the salt deposits from the walls. If pots are clay, then they can be burned in the oven, and if they are plastic - it is better to keep them in a solution of potassium permanganate.

It is very important to correctly determine the timing of seeding for seedlings, since if the seeds are sown early, the seedlings will stretch too much and will be weak. Any experienced gardener knows that slightly inferior seedlings are better than overgrown ones. In order to more accurately determine the seeding time for seedlings, you need to carefully study the instructions on the sachets with seeds or ask advice from knowledgeable gardeners, since this time in each locality has different weather.

Preparing seedlings for planting

Young seedlings do not like excessive watering. From this, roots can begin to rot and seedlings may die. Therefore, watering the seedlings should be at the root and only as the earth dries up. From time to time you can sprinkle the soil with water. Lighting for a short winter day our seedlings are not enough, it can stretch out a lot. Therefore, it is better to set the boxes with the seedlings backlighting with the help of fluorescent lamps. In addition, you need to regularly ventilate the room where the seedlings are, thereby tempering it and preparing for planting in the soil. And about ten days before planting the seedlings in the open ground, you can take it out to the street, first for 1-2 hours, and then for longer. Before landing, you can leave the seedlings on the street and all night, covering it with a film.

Before planting seedlings in the ground, it is necessary to pour it abundantly in small portions in several receptions. Our seedling is not accustomed to the bright sun, so it must be transplanted either in cloudy weather or in the evening. It is necessary to carefully remove the plant from the pot and immediately, together with a lump of earth, place in moistened soil. Choose for planting only healthy, strong plants with good roots. If the seedlings were grown in peat pots, they are planted in the ground together with them. You can pre-treat the roots of seedlings with special stimulants for root growth. If the seedling has overgrown, then it will not be good to get on and be ill for a long time. After planting the seedlings are well watered, and the ground around it is mulled with humus or simply by dry soil. If the seedlings are planted in early spring in a highly moistened earth, then you can do without irrigation when planting.

Calendar of planting seedlings

Even the ancient people noticed that the seedlings, planted in one day, grows strong and healthy, and if it is planted on other days, then may be weak, sick, or even die. Later, the lunar calendar of transplantation of seedlings was compiled, according to which, for example, sowing seeds of tomatoes is more expedient to produce 15.16 and 20 March. Transplanting seedlings of tomatoes in a closed ground is better 12,13,16 and on April, 17th, and landing of sprouts of tomatoes in an open ground is more preferable 14,15 or on May, 21st. By the time the seedlings are planted, tomatoes should have 7-8 leaves, and some saplings may already bloom by this time.
