Planting of grapes in autumn

Each of us is familiar with a culture such as grapes. Grapes are a very tasty juicy berry that everyone loves, from small children to adults. But, in addition, it is also a very beautiful plant that decorates and animates any landscape, not even very noticeable. For this reason, many plant different grape varieties on their sites. But not everyone knows how to plant grapes at their dacha.

Planting and caring for grapes in autumn

It should be borne in mind that it is possible to plant grapes in autumn only in well-moistened earth. The most favorable time for planting grapes in the fall falls on the middle-end of October, you can certainly plant and at a later date, but you need to have time before the onset of the first frost.

Correct planting of grapes in autumn

In order to plant grapes in autumn, it is necessary to prepare pits in advance for planting. It is advisable to excavate the pits in the middle of summer so that the land can very well settle. The size of the pits should be about 80-100 cm at 80-100 cm. When landing on the bottom of the pit, you need to pour 15 cm of rubble, level it and tamper.

Next you need to install drainage for irrigation. We take a plastic pipe with a diameter of 5 cm, we stick it into the rubble from the southern edge of the pit so that it is 10 cm from the edge, and about 10 cm above the ground.

Then we fall asleep in layers: black earth (15 cm), humus (2 buckets), 200 g superphosphate and 150 g potassium fertilizer (evenly scattered throughout the pit), again black earth. And we repeat the procedure: chernozem, humus, fertilizer and again chernozem. All this is very well tamped, this is necessary in order that the shrinkage of the earth does not damage the roots of the grapes. After all these procedures we have a pit of approximately 40-45 cm.

Then, in the middle of the pit, a small mound of fertile land is dumped and moistened with water, the water should not be more than three liters. But remember - if you live in arid areas, the volume of water can increase and reach two buckets.

Next, we take a seedling, the roots of which were previously soaked in a "boltushke" of clay and put it on the bottom of the pit, covered with earth (about 15 centimeters). When planting, it is very important to carefully spread all the roots, the seedling should be spread by the kidneys to the north, and the root heel should be to the south (where the drainage is).

With this planting, the roots of the grapes are at a depth of 30-40 cm. This is enough to prevent the young plant from becoming frozen during our frosts.

The rules for planting grapes in autumn are slightly different from spring planting. In the autumn, it is necessary to make a seeding of the seedlings. To do this, around the seedling, you need to pour a hill about 23 centimeters.

In autumn, you can do not only planting seedlings of grapes, but also transplanting an adult bush. A transplant is done after the fall leaf.

For this, the bush needs to be carefully digged, so as not to damage its stem and try to keep a large number of roots in its preservation. Next, we cut the roots by 20-30 cm, and some (having mechanical damages), cut so as to remove the completely damaged part. Roots under the head of the bush (dew roots), you need to remove completely. After pruning the roots, we soak them in a clay "boltushka".

On the bush leave a pair of sleeves with knots of substitution with two buds on each, if the root system is in excellent condition, but if the root system is badly damaged, then the above-ground shoots should be cut to the "black head". Then we transplant the bush according to the technology of planting the seedlings.

Planting of chibouks (cuttings) of grapes in autumn is not carried out at all. In autumn it is only possible to prepare cuttings for winter storage, and in spring they can be planted.
