Vertical landscaping takes our gardens to another plane, makes them more voluminous, lively, original. But this technique requires the manufacture of trellis under climbing plants. And here there are always several options.
Simple trellis mesh for climbing plants
The simplest and most budgetary option is the use of twigs left after the spring pruning of the garden. Of these, very nice trellis-netches are obtained, along which peas, hops, honeysuckle, convolvulus and other light plants are quite comfortable.
It is important to use flexible branches about 1 cm in diameter. Also in the work you will need a secateur and a wire. In advance, select the same twigs, break off the shoots.
The first branch is stuck into the ground to a depth of 10-15 cm, the second one is placed 10 cm from it at an angle of 60 degrees. The twigs are connected with each other by a wire diagonally. Repeat this action until you get a trellis of the right size. To make the design beautiful and durable, try to make all rhombuses the same. All the protruding tips of the branches must be cut off so that the trellis is rectangular.

Wooden trellises for climbing plants
If necessary, you can make your own hands more reliable and thorough trellis for climbing plants. They will be able to withstand even a heavy grapevine, besides they will serve you for several years.
For work you will need such materials and tools:
- wooden bars measuring 30x3 mm;
- wood screws;
- dowels 8-10 mm;
- chisel;
- antiseptic for impregnation;
- moisture resistant glue;
- electric drill;
- screwdriver;
- hacksaw;
- paint and brushes.
When you are stocked with everything necessary, it's time to learn how to make trellis for climbing plants. As carriers of the future trellis will be used two vertical by 2.2 mm and two horizontal by 1.8 mm wooden bars. The finished lattice will have a width of 42 cm, because in advance we cut the crossbeams into 35 cm in length.
On the bars we make markings and cuts so that later cross bars can be inserted. The distance between the notches is 35 cm.
The chisel needs to take out a piece of wood in the notches and then fasten the crossbeams in the wooden blocks, using a moisture resistant adhesive. In addition, the structure can be fixed with screws. The vertical and horizontal parts of the grid are fastened with screws.

The finished structure must be treated with an antiseptic, then you can paint it with paint of any color and fix it on the wall of the house, using a dowel and a drill. And you can fix it in the ground in any part of the garden.
Pergolas, arches and trellises for garden decoration
As supports for climbing plants are often used pergolas and arches with light lattices in the form of a diamond and a square. They are specifically designed to decorate the garden and create shady corners.
Pergolas and trellises perfectly match with such decorative elements as a gazebo, a bench, a terrace. When pergolas and benches form a single whole, and vine plants adorn the whole structure, an incredibly picturesque corner turns out.
Pergola in the classical sense is a vertical rack with a roof in the form of a lattice. On the roof can be located any climbing plants and vines - girlish virgin, wisteria, a wicker rose, etc. Such compositions decorate the garden very much. And in combination with the arches they can be placed above the benches, the gate, create a gallery above the path.
