Surfinium ampel

This plant belongs to one of the varieties of ampelia petunia . Cultivation of surfinia is fundamentally no different and quite sufficient for a beginner floriculturist. With good care, the plant will delight with a huge ball of flowers, which can decorate a flower garden, a garden plot or make a hanging flower bed out of flowers on the balcony .

Surfonia ampel: care

Qualitative care and correct landing of surfinia will make it possible to easily form a beautiful hanging bush. Plant the plant in large pots, as the shrub is formed rather bulky. The substrate must be of medium structure with acidity of pH -5,5-6,5. Prefers loamy or sandy soils, but it also adapts to any other fertile soil. Adult amphibian surfium needs a good fertilizing. Always make sure that the soil is moist. Positioning the hanging pot is better in places well protected from direct sun and wind rays.

When growing, flower growers often wonder whether it is necessary to pinch the surfium, because the plant is intended for a hanging pot and has long shoots. In fact, you need to pinch the plant necessarily after reaching shoots of 15-20 cm. Then the bush will be more lush and faster to form. Remember that the field of pinching bloom will stop for 2-3 weeks, this is normal. As a rule, when caring for the surfium, ampel shoots are thus updated in the initial stage of growth and at the end of summer for the rejuvenation of an adult plant.

One of the secrets of the formation of a lush and completely sheltered bush is cutting off all the buds until the shoots grow to the desired length and the bush is thus formed.

Surfonia: reproduction

As a rule, the plant is propagated by cuttings. Let us consider the basic rules for the reproduction of surfinia.

  1. It is better to start cuttings in the period from August to September, then by the winter you will have young plants.
  2. When growing seedlings, always use additional lighting. The light day must last at least 16 hours.
  3. It is convenient to use small plastic cups with a volume of 1.5 liters for cuttings of the surfinium. Water holes are not necessary. There it is necessary to pour soil mixture consisting of sand, peat and garden soil in equal parts. Beforehand, the ground should be frozen. If you use containers, then when planting it is necessary to place the cuttings rather tightly to each other, approximately every 2-3 cm.
  4. For the reproduction of the surfium, select the apical stem about 8 cm long, on which there are at least 5 leaves. A pair of lower leaves are removed and dipped in a powder of root. After treatment, the cuttings are buried in the soil for 2/3.
  5. Sprinkle seedlings should be moderate, periodically sprayed. The air temperature should be within 23-26 ° C.
  6. It is very important for good rooting to place the cut tops in the ground as early as possible. Within a couple of hours their ability to take root is significantly reduced. Also one of the secrets of growing seedlings is the bottom heating. If you place the cups or trays vertically, then the light above the bottom shelf will serve as a heating for the top.
  7. After the seedlings are ready, it is necessary to plant the surfinium in separate pots. Their volume should be about 100ml. Preparedness of seedlings is determined by the size of rootlets - their length should be at least 2 cm.
  8. If buds start to appear, they must be cut off. Also to achieve a lush bush pinch you need to shoot over 5 leaves.

Diseases of the surfina

In most cases, the onset of the disease is due to improper care for the amphibian surfine. If you water the plant too much, it can provoke the appearance of wet rot. If you notice darkening on adult plants, they must be removed and the flower garden treated with special preparations.

Stem often infects the late blight. At the same time, a brown stain appears on them, and eventually the plant fades and dies. For prevention, treat the plant with copper-containing preparations. This treatment will also avoid brown spots.
