Sesame paste

Sesame pasta called tahini is widely distributed in a variety of recipes for oriental cuisine, the most popular of which is hummus. The store product is often imported, from that the price is shocking, but we offer a much more economical method of preparing tahini by one's own hand.

Sesame pasta tahini - recipe

Tahini is prepared not more difficult than peanut butter, and the list of ingredients includes just a couple of basic ingredients - sesame seeds and vegetable oil. The latter can be either sunflower or any other odorless oil, including grape seed oil or corn oil, for example.

Preparation

Before making sesame paste, the sesame seeds themselves should be roasted better. This step remains at your discretion, but after roasting the sesame gets a much more pronounced flavor and smack, and the paste itself becomes a pleasant golden color.

For roasting, sesame seeds are poured into a dry frying pan and browned for 3-5 minutes with constant stirring. Take care that the seeds are not burned!

Pour the sesame into the bowl of a high-speed blender. Blender must be high-speed, otherwise the paste will not work. Pour the seeds into a bowl and beat for about a minute, until crumbs are obtained. Further, whilst continuing, begin to add vegetable oil to sesame. Beat the pasta until smooth, then season with a little salt.

Depending on the desired consistency, you can change the recipe for sesame paste, pouring more or less vegetable oil. The latter helps to grind the seeds even more carefully, especially when you are not using a modern blender.

How to use sesame paste?

The most popular method of using sesame paste is its addition to hummus , but this is not the only thing. Due to the pronounced taste, sesame paste is often added to sauces and marinades for meat or used as a dip for crackers and vegetables, as well as in salad dressings. Tahini is added to hot dishes, for example, stews and soups, used in baking and as a binder for a variety of energy bars and home truffles.
