Patina on the furniture

More recently, people have tried to decorate their interior with new furniture that does not have scuffs and other minor flaws. Today in the fashion artificially aged products, having their own unique aura and unique charm. The aging effect can be created with the help of chemical (stain, paint, lacquer with kracke effect) and physical (brushing, drilling with a drill or laser) methods.

One can not fail to note the patination method, in which complex convex patterns are shaded with a contrasting greenish color. At the same time, bluish-green hues simulating a patina are used. In nature, it occurs on copper and bronze objects due to the long-term effect of atmospheric precipitation. The composition of the natural patina includes carbonic copper, which is similar in composition to malachite. Perhaps, therefore, its appearance is similar to this mineral.

Today, decorators recreate the patina on the furniture, using acrylic colors of different shades. In this case, it acquires a touch of noble antiquity, which looks very interesting and a bit mysterious. What are the features of furniture facades with patina and how to care for them? About this below.

Furniture in the kitchen

Aged kitchens with patina look gentle and romantic. In this case, they have a spirit of antiquity (albeit artificially created), which makes you think about where the products were brought from and how many owners had time to change. In the case of furniture, patination does not necessarily mean a blue-green coating. Here, shades as close as possible to the natural color of the tree (brown, milky white, golden and silvery) are used. Thanks to them you can create a feeling, like furniture has stood in the sun for a long time because of what it managed to burn out and get a little worn out. However, despite the effect of antiquity, all furniture MDF facades with patina are opened with varnish and do not have any burrs or breaks.

The only question remains: which furniture to choose? It depends on the effect you want. So the kitchen with a patina of gold and silver looks very rich. The interior with it can be supplemented with classic paintings in heavy wooden frames, and the apron to impose a natural stone or bleached brick.

To create a kitchen in the style of Provence or country, it is better to use white or brown furniture with patina. It will look cute and unobtrusive, without distracting from such pleasant additions as curtains, vases with flowers and baskets of fruit.

Furniture in other rooms

Consider the sets of furniture that are most often decorated with patina:

  1. White dining table with patina. It is a real pearl of the interior, because it looks expensive and stylish. For the decor, a gold patina is used for the tree, which covers the legs and edges of the furniture. To enhance the effect, the decorators complement the table with light chairs with a similar design.
  2. Light bedroom with patina . Very impressive look sets of furniture from the bedroom, dressing table, bedside cabinet and chest. In this case, all products must be made in the same style and color. Patina cover the convex details of the furniture edge.
  3. Interior doors with patina . Perfectly complement the interior in a classic style . Such doors can be supplemented by three-dimensional panels and frosted glass. Some designers also use patinated handles. Patina on metal looks especially organic.

For products with patina you need to look after as well as other varnished or painted wooden surfaces - wipe them slightly with a rag, do not use aggressive chemical and abrasive agents. A polish for a tree will do.
