Treatment of gooseberry mildew in spring

If your bush of gooseberries grows in your summer cottage since time immemorial, then you probably know this dangerous disease - powdery mildew or, speaking in a more professional language, a spherote. It is expressed in the appearance of a white bryophyte coating on the berries and leaves of the plant. Especially quickly the disease begins to spread in hot and humid weather, that is, as a rule, in June. Over time, the white coating is transformed into a brown crust that spots the fruits.

Affected stems and leaves can soon dry up and fall off, and berries, covered with a dangerous touch, often do not have time to ripen, as they crack and fall from the bush still in a green state. Therefore, if you do not treat gooseberries from powdery mildew in the spring, you can stay without harvest of delicious berries, and in the future there is a risk and completely lose your favorite bush.

Of course, science does not stand still, and breeders have long since produced many varieties that do not respond to mildew disputes. However, not everyone trusts hybrid varieties, and taste qualities are reflected in selection experiments. Whoever said anything, but the old grandmother's bush that grows in your garden gives you much more delicious berries than new varieties of gooseberries. Therefore, the only solution is to protect gooseberries from powdery mildew. I'm glad that it's quite easy to fight a harmful fungus.
