Mosque of Mustafa Pasha


The Mustafa Pasha mosque is the main object of the worship of Muslims in the capital of Macedonia , the city of Skopje. This is one of the most beautiful monuments of Islamic architecture. The uniqueness of the mosque lies in the fact that, despite its impressive age, the building has been perfectly preserved and has not undergone any significant changes.

Features of architecture

The Mustafa Pasha Mosque is one of the main representatives of Constantinople Islamic architecture. This rectangular building, crowned by a huge dome (16 m in diameter), which, in turn, is decorated with ancient arabesques and carved murals. At the main entrance your view, most likely, will stop on snow-white marble columns. The building itself is built of polished brick and stone, and it looks very solemn.

Entering the mosque, pay attention to the eastern ornaments on the walls. The original painting of the walls will not leave anyone indifferent. You will see traditional minarets in Moslem architecture 47 meters high. The interior is quite simple, as it should be in a Muslim shrine, but the walls at the front entrance are decorated with colored plates, which served as a local idea to give the mosque a second name. Now the mosque of Mustafa Pasha is called in the people by the Colored Mosque.

How to get to the mosque?

Finding a structure is very easy, you do not even have to use transport. From the area of ​​Macedonia, follow along the street Orsa Nikolova, and then along Samoilov Street (behind the bridge). You will be on the road for about 15 minutes. The entrance to the mosque, of course, is free. It does not matter what kind of religion you relate to - everyone here is happy. However, to behave, of course, should be modest and quiet, so as not to upset the local parishioners. Clothes should also be closed, it's better to refrain from bright colors and causing cuts.
