A bit of history

Poliban was established in 1889. Then he served to transport students to the university, which is located on a hill. In 1998, the funicular wanted to close the local authorities, but the Swiss bank allocated a sum for the restoration of Poliban. Since then, the famous funicular began to move not by water, but by electricity, and the trams themselves were modernized and acquired a rich red color.

Nowadays Polyban is one of the interesting tourist walks. A small tram will take you from the embankment of Zurich to the upper station, which is near the University of ETH.
