Collection of the Emil Burle Foundation

If you are a big fan of art and painting, then, without a doubt, you can say that Zurich will be your favorite city. It contains a lot of historical memorabilia and world-famous museums of painting, in which the best, great paintings of the Middle Ages are exhibited. One of Zurich 's stunning attractions is the Emil Burlé Foundation collection - a private, legendary collection of sculptures and paintings of medieval classics. This museum can be envied by the whole of Europe, because it is home to genuine artwork. It is not so easy to get to, after robbery in 2008, but if you follow the rules and all the nuances of visiting, you can admire the "great and beautiful".

History of creation

Collector Emil Burle for many years of his life collected a large, expensive collection of works from the era of the avant-garde, antiquity and the Middle Ages. How he got them - no history is known. During the war, the collector cooperated with border guards and military commanders of Germany, so there is a version that they were the ones who ordered him to order rare paintings from defeated museums and private collections. Emil died in 1956, but in his will there was no clear order for the exhibits. Relatives moved all the paintings and sculptures into a separate villa, and soon decided to create even a fund so that other curious art connoisseurs could also enjoy the creations of the classics.

Museum in our days

In 2008, four valuable pictures were stolen from the Assembly of the Emil Burle Foundation. Soon they were returned to their place, but this fact influenced the visit and reception of tourists in the museum. To get into it you need to negotiate with the administration in advance, especially if it is a group visit. What is waiting for you inside? As you guessed, these are the great creations of the medieval classics. Not so interesting are the sculptures of the collection, as canvases of painting. In it you will find pictures of Rembrandt, Goya, Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Cezanne, Degas, etc. This collection is a real treasure, the "pearl" of Zurich and Switzerland . It collected more than 60 works by the greatest artists.
