The Pirogovo Museum in Kiev

On one of the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital, in Goloseevsky district, there is a unique exposition in the open air, one of the best museums in Kiev is the Pirogovo museum. The author of the idea of ​​creating a museum of Ukrainian architecture and way of life was Pyotr Tronko. The idea of ​​such a museum was born to him in 1969. In the process of forming the exposition, the creator of the museum had to face many difficulties connected with the selection of objects characteristic of each historical region. They interfered with the work and intrigues of ill-wishers who tried to accuse Pyotr Timofeevich of empty waste of national resources and even of nationalism. But when the museum was open, all the opponents of this undertaking had nothing else to do but shut up - the museum turned out to be so interesting and unusual.

Today in the museum you can see 7 expositions devoted to different regions of Ukraine: the South of Ukraine, Slobozhanshchina, Podolia, Middle Naddnepryanshchina, Poltava, Polesie, Carpathians . Also, the exhibition "Folk Art in the Architecture of Rural Life of the 60-80's" is presented to the attention of visitors.

Interestingly, in its mass here are collected authentic architectural structures created by the hands of Ukrainian residents in a certain area in a certain period of time. But there are also exhibits restored according to old drawings and drawings. Collected here and has no analogues collection of ethnographic exhibits, the volume of which exceeds 40 thousand objects. This includes authentic dishes and furniture, carpets and clothing, musical instruments and paintings.
