After all, the mountains of the Caucasus, the so-called "five-thousanders", have a height of more than five thousand meters above sea level. Each of the tops has a very complex terrain and presents a potential danger to lay people. The Five Highest Mountains of Russia

This mountain is considered to be the highest in Russia, and according to some sources, in Europe, because its height is 5642 meters. Mount Elbrus is a sleeping volcano that did not show itself for a very long time, but volcanologists do not rush to dismiss it, because the inside continues active activity. Thanks to it, the various mineral waters of the Caucasus are available.

The very first who visited the highest mountain peak of Elbrus was the conductor of the Russian expedition Kilar Khashirov, a Kabardian by nationality. It happened in 1829. The mountain has the shape of a saddle, the distance between its two peaks is about one and a half kilometers. At that, one vertex is younger, and the second appeared much earlier, as evidenced by such facts as its destruction under the influence of both external and internal forces of nature.

The surface of Elbrus is mostly hidden under glaciers, which, melting, form mountain rivers. Slopes from the southern and eastern sides are rather gentle, but after passing the mark of three thousand meters the slope of the mountain rises to 35 degrees. But the northern and western slopes are often sheer, which attracts fans of mountaineering.

This twin mountain has many tourist routes, as well as the foothills of Elbrus - a great place for lovers of active winter sports. These places are very popular both among domestic tourists, and among guests from abroad.

For mountain climbing, this mountain is a complex and dangerous object, but this fact is few of those who like adrenaline stop. In winter there are very low temperatures. This peak is considered the least visited because of the dangers of the terrain. Its height is 5205 meters above sea level.
