The reservoir is located in Switzerland and is located at an altitude of 409 meters above sea level. Zurich Lake has around itself such populated points as the cantons of St. Gallen , Schwyz and of course, Zurich .

The lake has the shape of a half moon or a banana. On the water there is a dam that divides the lake into two parts (the upper and lower lake), which turns them into completely different reservoirs in depth, appearance, etc. A railroad runs along their shores, which allows newly arrived tourists to go first to the water.

On the lake there are two lakes - Ufenau and Lützelau, they are very small, but they have several buildings in the form of a church and houses. In addition, in 1854, elements and remnants of pile settlements (houses on stilts above the surface of the earth or above the water) were found on the bottom of the lake, among them: tools, weapons, utensils and fishing gear.

Upper and Lower Lakes

Before you begin to relax, you need to decide on the lake you need. The upper lake is shallow and there is no possibility to swim in it, not to mention boats, but this is a wonderful place for fishing and that is why many people come here. It is rich in thickets of reeds and a variety of species of fish.

The lower lake is a wide and deep basin (up to 143 meters in depth), which is an ideal place for diving, sailing on boats and even steamships.

Rest on Lake Zurich

The lake provides an opportunity to go on a boat, just swim, there is even shallow water for children , but the lake itself is by no means a resort, as the beaches are not equipped for recreation and all overgrown with grass. Whatever it was, for people on the lake, there is the possibility of yachting, diving, fishing and even sailing on a passenger steamer.

Timetable of ships on Lake Zurich: for the transportation of tourists there are 5 steamships and they are sent every 10 minutes. Each steamer has a slightly different service and service, so the ticket price can vary, but on average from 85 euros to 125 (there is a small ship with a ticket price of 30 euros). There is also the opportunity to ride on ordinary boats and small ships, which is much cheaper.

Often on the shores of the lake and in the district, events and celebrations (arts festivals and even wine fairs) are organized, which everyone can visit and participate in contests.

How to get there?

Directly to Zurich you can get from the airports of the capitals of European cities or by train from any other city of Switzerland and get off at the railway station just outside the lake. If you are already in Zurich , then you can get to the lake by public transport under the numbers S40 and 125 or on a rented car.
