IVF with donor egg

In vitro fertilization is becoming an increasingly popular procedure. The possibilities of this program are expanded due to the development of medicine and technical and medicamental equipment. So, if before there was an age barrier for IVF because of the onset of menopause, now the age of the patient is not of fundamental importance. IVF with an egg donor makes it possible to give birth to a baby even after the onset of menopause.

The whole process is divided into 2 parts: the donor woman is stimulated by the ovaries to receive oocytes and puncture the eggs. Next is the artificial fertilization of the egg and the implantation of a fertilized egg to another woman.

A donor woman must previously undergo a course of ovarian stimulation for ten or twelve days. The course provides daily injections of hormonal drugs under the close attention of a doctor. When it becomes clear on ultrasound that most follicles are mature enough, the donor is given a drug that controls the time of ovulation and allows to extract the cells before their natural release.

After the collection of eggs, which occurs under general anesthesia of short action (10-20 minutes), the fertilization of the donor egg with the sperm of the spouse is carried out. Fertilization of the egg in the eco is carried out in the laboratory. Then there are 2 options for further action: freezing a fertilized egg for its delayed implantation or immediate implantation of the egg to the female recipient.

More often the fertilized egg is immediately implanted into the endometrium of the prepared uterine cavity. In this case, preliminary work is required to synchronize the hormonal work in the body of the recipient and the donor. That is, a donor woman and a female recipient agree among themselves the reception of certain hormonal drugs so that at the time of egg preparation, the mucous membrane of the recipient's uterus was ready to receive the embryo. Closer to the time of embryo transfer, a hormone progesterone is assigned to the female recipient. It is extremely important for the implantation and proper development of the embryo in the first weeks of pregnancy.

The effectiveness of the IVF program, that is, its success rate is approximately 35-40%, which means that every third woman who is unable to conceive naturally has a chance to become a mother.
