But do not do this. Experienced truck farmers, having tried a lot of folk methods, have learned to fight with the diseases of tomatoes, not using chemical drugs that are harmful to humans. One such method is spraying tomatoes with iodine solution.
Why sprinkle tomatoes with iodine?
Plants have very low need for iodine, and those microdoses that are in the soil are quite enough. Therefore, there are no special iodine fertilizers.
However, if we talk about tomatoes, they have a special attitude to this element. Iodine has a beneficial effect on fruiting, because it is useful for ovary tomato. During the growing of seedlings, pour each bush once with a weak iodine solution (two drops per 4 liters of water). Thanks to this, the flower brushes will become branched with a good ovary and will develop rapidly.
Top dressing of tomato with milk and iodine
Milk + iodine = not only an ideal top dressing for tomatoes, but also a great way to fight many pests, as practically all insects do not digest lactose and milk sugar. After milk spraying, a thin film forms on the leaves of the plant, which prevents the penetration of various pathogens.
For such spraying, it is better to take raw milk, but if there is no possibility to find raw, then sterilized will be perfectly fit. In its pure form it can not be used, for so you only harm your plants. Ideal proportions for the solution: 4 liters of water, 1 liter of milk plus 15 drops of iodine.
But if in your area is bloated with late blight , then in early June, tomatoes should be sprinkled with serum with iodine. The serum contains useful microelements and vitamin B, so there will be both top dressing and prevention from such a dangerous disease.
