Fibromatosis of the uterus

After 40 years, in about half of women, the muscular tissue of the uterus body begins to be replaced by a connective tissue - the uterine fibroids develop. With the course of the disease, it can go to the stage of development of fibroids - benign uterine body formation.

Fibromatosis of the uterus - causes

The main causes of fibromatosis can be considered violations of the hormonal background of women, inflammatory diseases of the uterus and appendages, surgical interventions on the uterus (scraping, abortion, cesarean section), heredity, obesity, bad habits, chronic stress, endocrine diseases.

Types of fibromatosis

There are two types of fibromatosis: focal and diffuse uterine fibromatosis. With focal, the process has clear contours, clearly limited nodes of different sizes. Depending on the localization, the nodes can be intramural (located and grow inside the myometrium), subserous (under the serous membrane and grow into the abdominal cavity), submucous (submucosal nodes that grow into the uterine cavity). In the diffuse process, it is impossible to determine the boundaries of individual nodal formations and this is the fibromatosis of the entire body of the uterus.

Fibromatosis of the uterus - symptoms

To suspect fibromatosis at small sizes of nodes and limited changes in the uterus, it is possible only with gynecological examination to increase the size of the uterus, and the course of the early stages is asymptomatic. With the growth of nodes in the foreground there are violations of the normal course of the monthly: they become longer, more abundant, and often fibromatosis is diagnosed due to uterine bleeding .

Other symptoms are lower abdominal pain, increased pain during menstruation, dysfunctional uterine bleeding in the middle of the menstrual cycle, back pain, discomfort and pain during intercourse.

Because of frequent or prolonged bleeding, the symptoms of anemia increase: dryness of the skin and mucous membranes, fragility of hair, separation of nails. If the size of the nodes is large, the urinary system and the intestinal tract may be disturbed.

Diagnosis of fibromatosis

You can diagnose fibromatosis even with gynecological examination - by increasing the uterus in size, its uneven surface or probing individual nodes on the uterus. Of the additional examinations, the doctor first of all appoints an ultrasound - examination, which clearly shows rounded formations with clear edges, with diffuse fibromatosis they often merge with each other.

Echogenicity of nodes depends on the prescription of their appearance, fresh often hypoechoic, but with time echogenicity, like size, can increase, sometimes in old nodes find calcints. Less commonly, additional hysteroscopy and laparoscopy are used. In the presence of nodes determine the hormonal background of a woman, to heal violations and prevent the appearance of new nodes.

Fibromatosis of the uterus - treatment

Fibromatosis of the uterus is treated by a specialist, do not use folk remedies because of the possibility of a deeper hormonal imbalance and accelerate the growth of nodes under the action some phytopreparations.

At small sites treatment is not required, only preventive examination is used by a gynecologist before the onset of menopause, during which the nodes atrophy along with the uterus. But in cases of severe bleeding due to the impossibility of contractions of the uterus deformed by the nodes, with large sizes of nodes, they are removed, and in case of diffuse fibrosis with complications, the uterine body is sometimes removed to the cervix.

Fibromatosis with rapidly growing nodes, caused by hormonal disorders, are treated conservatively, using hormone therapy.
