Crafts from foil

The noble metal shine of the foil and, at the same time, its suppleness and plasticity always tempted lovers of folk art. In addition, the foil is not afraid of water, no temperature changes, no bright sun, no dust. And the price, which is not unimportant, is available. Such an ideal ornamental material has found application in a variety of techniques and has become the basis of a large number of different original works.

What can be done from foil?

At a time when stainless spoons really did not rust, and in school and factory canteens trays were breaking from aluminum cutlery, it was not difficult to get a free roll of foil of any stiffness of hue and thickness. The only exception was, perhaps, only the foil for baking. Now the situation has dramatically changed, but there were still drinks in canned packaging - an inexhaustible source of inspiration for folk artists.

Embossing

The art of extruding drawings on a thin metal sheet appeared a very long time ago. But more recently, our brothers from China came up with a foil cut from beer and coca-cola cans for such crafts. Worth a try. The occupation itself does not require any special time, tools and investments, and the result will exceed all expectations - such a foil decoration can not be bought in any store. Such an exclusive thing to give and not to be ashamed of, and maybe even pitiful. But everything is in your hands - no one interferes with making them a couple of more nights in the evening behind the TV.

So. Both bottoms are cut off, and the resulting tube is cut with scissors until converted into a rectangular foil sheet. Plots, like in many other artistic processes, are best drawn from children's books. Perfect illustrations with a feather-bird or the type of Palekh Udaltsy on maned horses. The picture is superimposed on the can rectangle and is gently squeezed out and though not written with a ballpoint pen. Then, where necessary, the bulges can be worked out more strongly, using for extrusion bead on the toothpick or, conversely, a thin awl. For convex places work is processed from the inside, for the concave - from the front. Effectively looks work when all the details are cut and pasted on a dark velvet or velor background.

Candlestick

The fact that the foil does not burn makes it one of the few materials for making candlesticks. A wonderful candlestick can be a simple in execution and soulful appearance of the house made of foil. The rectangle of the foil is divided in width into four equal parts - two of them are the ends of the house, through one. Roof ends, naturally triangle, the roof of the other two sides, respectively, a rectangle. You can cut the roof in the form of fish scales, so that between the shingles the light streams, you need to cut out a lot of windows, balconies and glazed doors - fantasize. From the foil you can do whatever you want - it does not burn. Inside this house-cap we put a round candle.

Weaving from foil

It is pleasant to crumple the sheets of food foil in hands - from an impeccable mirror sheet you get a small wrinkled silver nutlet or wrinkled old worm. Perhaps this magic transformation led to the idea of how to weave flowers from foil, make grapes of bricks, and mold spider bugs. Such crafts are very fond of children. Help them cut the foil into identical strips, teach them to put one strip of the other on, lengthening the thread of the weave. And crafts made of foil will dislodge all the other knickknacks from the shelves of your living room and kitchen.

Quilling

Quilling - translates as a bird feather. In another way this direction of creativity is called papercutring. The essence of the direction is reduced to cutting from the paper strips, twisting them around a thin silk, and spreading these patterns out of these curls. If instead of paper we cut the foil into elastic strips, we can easily make a snowflake in the technique of quilling from the foil. Such crafts can become an exquisite Christmas decoration.

Decoupage on foil

There are several artists who have chosen a foil for their canvas. Painting on foil - a specific direction in the visual arts, usually the plot serves as seascapes, with a thin stripe of the shore and the abyss of the sky. It's always interesting to try something new. If you decide to paint on foil, add a little bit of washing liquid to the paint, it will not roll off the glossy foil.

If you do not feel a professional landscape painter, you can paste the top layer of napkin on the foil and varnish with acrylic lacquer. The translucent foil will give the effect of an internal pearlescent glow.

Whatever you choose - do not be shy, foil will endure all.
