Antidote for the viper bite

In regions where poisonous snakes are found, medical institutions must have an appropriate antidote. The antidote for the viper bite in this case is not an exception - a special serum is not uncommon and is available for sale in many pharmacies. Let's talk about whether you can trust such an antidote for a viper and what to do if you do not have it.

Antidote from the viper bite - what kind of drug?

The antidote against the viper is appropriately named - Serum Antigadyuka, Serum vs. Venom Viper vulgaris. It is made from blood serum of horses on special biofactories. The drug acts on the foreign protein and promotes its rapid clotting and excretion. It is important to remember that the antidote for the viper does not always help with the bites of other vipers, but when using it, you can achieve improvement in the patient's condition. But to use the serum "Antigadyuka" with the bites of other venomous snakes and spiders is strictly prohibited. Similarly, serum can not be used against the bites of epha, cobra, gyurza, or karakurt when biting a viper.

The antidote for the viper venom needs special storage conditions. It is this circumstance that is the reason why it is rarely taken with them to camping and traveling. The optimum temperature at which the serum can remain active for 1-2 months is 2-8 degrees Celsius. That is, the refrigerator at the dacha is quite suitable for these purposes, but the camping chamber for storing food is not. Fortunately, viper bites for humans are fatal only in 1% of cases, and most often the death is due to improperly rendered first aid.
