Corosion - description

This unusual flower belongs to the family of amaranth, which grow in the hot conditions of India. The name of the plant comes from the Greek "kelos", which means burning or fiery. And indeed the inflorescence of the comb-like kisses is quite vivid. On the stem up to 35-45 cm high, a flower resembles the appearance of a wavy cock's comb of purple-red, yellow, orange or pink color.

Blossoms of cetacea quite a long time - from July to mid-autumn (October). The "Imperialis" variety is characterized by dark purple inflorescences, the same color with shoots and leaves. No less effective is the "scallop" in the case of the comb variety "Kokcinea" , whose leaves are green, and the inflorescence is bright red. Beautiful flowers look like "Coral Garden", "Glou" and "Toreador" .

Corrosion comb - planting and care

Cultivation of crooked combs are practiced both at home and in the garden. In general, the plant prefers well-lit areas, closed from drafts and without stagnation of moisture. As for the soil, the flower grows well on fertile and loose soils with a neutral reaction .

Since the plant has roots from hot countries, in our region, a seeding of the seeds of the comb is combed into seedlings, and then a transplant is made to the open ground. In the seed box, place a mixture of sand and peat or humus and vermiculite . After watering the soil, the seeds are simply scattered over the surface. The container should be placed in a warm room with an air temperature of + 23 + 25 degrees, and then covered with a film or glass. Usually shoots appear in a week. In the future, seedlings will need bright lighting, ventilated premises, as well as timely but moderate watering.

Transplanting the flower is combed into the open ground when warm weather is established on the street - in late May - in June. The seedlings are placed together with the earthen lump in small holes at a distance of 15-25 cm from each other. Water the young plants as needed - moderately and neatly, and, incidentally, in the early morning. Keep in mind that excessive moisture often leads to rotting of the roots, and, accordingly, to the death of the celiac. From time to time (1-2 times a month), the flower needs to be fed, provided that fertilizers have not been introduced during the digging of the site. True, in the cultivation of crotonia comb in the feeding is better not overdo it. Otherwise, instead of the brightest flowering you will be waiting for the heavily developed tops.

At home, the comb comb is dived into a separate pot with a diameter of 7-10 cm. The pot should be placed on the south window, where there is enough sunlight. True, the window is better to hang slightly from direct sunlight. In extreme cases, the window sill of the western or eastern window will fit.

Reproduction of cetaceous cristae

The flower reproduces well with cuttings. However, in the opinion of experienced florists, the decorative properties of the inflorescences with this method of reproduction are significantly reduced. Therefore, it is recommended to collect the seeds from the shrinking inflorescence and plant them in the spring of next year.
