Role Behavior

Every person in his life plays a role every day. Some find it difficult to switch from the role of a strict boss to the role of a gentle and caring wife.

Role behavior is a social function of a person. This behavior is expected from the person. It is conditioned by its status or position in the structure of interpersonal relations.

The concept of role behavior includes such a structure:

  1. Model of role behavior on the part of society.
  2. Representations of a person about their own behavior.
  3. Real human behavior.

Let's consider the basic models of role behavior.

Role behavior of personality

In the world there are many social roles. Sometimes a person can meet with a difficult situation in which his personal activities in one social role hamper, makes it difficult to perform other roles. Being a member of the group, the person is subjected to strong pressure and circumstances, as a result of which he can renounce his true self. When this happens, a role conflict arises inside the person.

It is believed that when a person is faced with this kind of conflict, it is subjected to psychological stress. This can lead to emotional problems that will occur when the person interacts with others, as well as in the appearance of doubts in decision-making.

Role behavior in the organization

Every person's status at work provides for their roles. In the role-playing set, each role is a community of different roles that are not similar to other relationships. For example, one of the roles of the chief is the role of the breadwinner. This role is not fixed by any charter in the organization. It is informal. The head, as if the head of the family, is attributed to the duties according to which he must take care of the subsistence of the members of his family, that is, his subordinates.

Role behavior in the family

The main parameter of the structure of role behavior in the family is what character prevails in the system of primacy. This determines the relationship of power and subordination. In order to prevent conflict situations in the family, the role behavior of each member family should correspond to the following:

Roles that form a whole system should not contradict each other. The fulfillment of a certain role by each person in the family must satisfy the needs of all its members. The roles that have been taken must correspond to the personal capabilities of each person. There should be no role conflicts.

It should be noted that every person should have more than one role for a long time. He needs psychological changes, diversity.
