Potato salad - a classic recipe

Most of the salads that we are familiar with, like the same "Shuba" or "Olivier", are categorized in cooking as potato. In addition to the very basis, in fact, the potato, the snack can include a wide variety of vegetable, meat or dairy supplements, as well as eggs. The classic recipes for potato salads will be discussed further.

German potato salad - classic recipe

Seeing the classic recipe of potato salad in German cuisine, you can rightly think that this is not a snack at all, but a full-fledged main dish, all its basic ingredients - potatoes and bacon - are so full.

After peeling potato tubers from dirt on the surface, cook them for about half an hour, and after cooling, divide into thin plates.

Cut the bacon and fry it in a dry frying pan until golden. Remove the slices of bacon, brown on the stale grease and onions. Add flour to the roast, and after mixing, pour into the pan a mixture of vinegar, water, sugar and ground celery seeds. After boiling, cook the sauce for about a minute, then add the potato slices and bacon. After mixing, you can serve the dish immediately, but you can cool it.

Classic American Potato Salad

The Americans do not have a classic potato salad simply because there are so many variations of this dish that it is not clear which of them became the progenitor. As a rule, the potato salad in the American kitchen has also eggs, greens, capers and a dressing based on mayonnaise or its mixture with other sauces.

Boil the potato tubers directly "in a uniform", and after cooling cut into cubes. Boil the eggs and chop them. Fry strips of bacon until they turn rosy. Mix the prepared ingredients together, add greens and capers. Take care of the dressing, for the preparation of which you should mix ground celery seeds with dried onions, sugar, paprika, mustard, mayonnaise and water. After filling the salad, immediately serve it.
