Thanks to this, the first harvest can be obtained at the end of the summer season, because the vegetative period of the plant lasts about seven to eight months.

How to grow leeks seedlings - preparatory stage

To cultivate seedlings of leeks should be in early spring - in the middle of March. Before planting, first you need to pre-prepare the seeds, which is a special treatment. First of all, seeds purchased at a specialized store should be decontaminated. To do this, they are first placed in hot water at a temperature of about 45-50 ° C for 20-30 minutes, and then in a cold water. Some gardeners recommend to lower the seeds in the juice of the century. After that, the seeds should be placed for two or three days in warm water for rapid germination. Do not forget to periodically change the water to warm. When the seeds proklyutsya, you need to leave them on a saucer to dry. Then you can plant the onion leeks on the seedlings.

Seedlings - planting and care

The most convenient is the sowing of leek on seedlings in separate pots or boxes for seedlings. A suitable substrate for seeds is a mixture of turf, peat and humus. Capacities should be filled with prepared soil, slightly compacted and poured. If you chose cups, you need to fill them in ¾ of the pieces. The optimal time for planting leeks on the seedlings is on March 20-25. The substrate must be pre-poured, then seeds are sown into it to a depth of one and a half centimeters. Sowing is best done sparingly, so that there is no need to make a pick-up, that is, thin out. The distance between rows of seeds should be about 5 cm. Seedlings are covered with a layer of earth, and then with a film. Container with seeds should be placed in a warm place, where the temperature is within + 22 + 24 degrees. Periodically, the soil should be watered, and the film should be removed for a while for airing.

Finally, the film is removed when the first shoots appear on the soil surface. Seedlings need to be moved to a well-lit place. The temperature regime should correspond to + 19 + 20 degrees in the daytime and + 10 + 14 degrees at night. A higher temperature is not recommended, otherwise untimely arrows will appear in the seedling. If the street temperature is plus, it is recommended to place the container on a balcony or terrace.

In addition, when growing leeks of leek it is important to make timely watering. It is better to use standing water room temperature or warm. Watering the seedlings should be moderate, waiting until the earthen como dries. Also, do not forget to ventilate the room, where there are pots or containers, so that the seedlings are not stretched.

As the seedlings grow, leaves of leeks can be shortened to a length of 8-10 cm. This will contribute to the thickening of the stem and the better development of the root system. As the planting time approaches the open ground, vegetable seedlings need to be hardened, taking it out for a while to the street.

Landing in the open ground can be carried out in early-mid-May.
