Russian women's shirt is one of the oldest traditional types of clothing, which dominated in the costumes of the ancestors-Slavs, and was much more richly decorated and decorated, unlike the men's.

History of women's Russian shirt

The very word "shirt", obviously, comes from the word "rub", meaning a fragment, a piece of cloth. Usually Russian national women's shirt was made of linen homespun linen. Fabrics made mostly by women - according to the beliefs, only women's hands that did not hold arms could make clothes.

The cut of the shirt was also very simple - the long fabric was bent in half (on the shoulders), cut out the sleeves and the gate, and did it very sparingly, so that no extra flaps remained.

Decorated shirt with the help of stones and embroidery, as well as weaving patterns. Ornaments were arranged along the hem, on the edges of the sleeves, on the collar and on the chest (two strips). The shirt was girdled with a belt, and thus, according to pagan beliefs, the protection of the open parts of the body from the dark forces was performed.

The most elegant were festive shirts, which were worn for celebrations related to the harvesting or pasture of livestock. Of course, the most elegant shirt is a wedding dress. It was embroidered with red patterns, and it was fitting to wear it on a special occasion for a young wife, and then carefully store it.

Modern interpretations of the shirt

Many of the motifs and characteristics of the cutting of modern things were borrowed from a traditional shirt, for example, a dress-shirt in the Russian style and today looks very relevant and fashionable.
