Palace of Legislators

From the history

The Palace of Legislators is a grandiose project, for which a century ago the best architects of Italy undertook. He was allocated a considerable amount from the budget and, in principle, she justified herself. The government building began functioning in 1904, and parliamentary sessions are still held in it.

Building's facade

The facade of the Palace is made in neoclassical Italian style, diluted with elements of the era of the High Renaissance. This grandiose building is quite impressive in size, it is built in the form of a cube. Each side of the Palace symbolizes the corresponding side of the world and is decorated with thematic murals. In the corners of the building are statues of Law, Labor, Law and Science.

Before the Palace of Legislators a stone three-tiered staircase is built, on which tourists and students often gather to rest and chat. This fact shows how open and loyal the Government of Uruguay is. In the backyard of the building is a small garden, which is also open to tourists.

Interior

If we talk about the interior of the Palace, it can be noted that it does not yield a single drop to its beauty and elegance in the appearance of the building. Having come here, you will be captivated by the amazing refinement, which is created thanks to the huge crystal chandeliers, painted ceilings and walls, huge paintings, handmade sculptures and wooden furniture of the Middle Ages. Windows in the entire wall are the highlight of the room. From them a wonderful panorama of urban surroundings opens, from which it is impossible to look away.

Despite the fact that meetings are held in the Palace of Legislators, excursions for tourists and schoolchildren are allowed.
