Neoprene cloth - what is it?

Recently, neoprene clothing has become popular, which has a number of very specific and unusual properties. What kind of material is neoprene, and what are the advantages of it, unlike other artificial tissues?

Modern synthetic material

Before you talk about the properties, it is worth explaining what it is - neoprene fabric. The material in question is relatively new on the world market. It is made from synthetic chloroprene rubber, that is, foamed rubber. If neoprene is used for tailoring, a number of additional substances that increase elasticity, wear resistance are added to the fabric. In addition, it is pasted with natural body tissues pleasant to the body on both sides.

The idea of creating neoprene came to the head of the French chemist Georges Buchs in 1953. The enterprising scientist decided that neoprene clothing would be an excellent alternative to rubber, which was not cheap. Initially, these clothes were used as a special form for certain types of work, and at the beginning of the XXI century, designers decided to expand the scope of innovative material. Today the material of neoprene, which has unique properties, is used in industry, for the production of consumer goods, in the fashion, sports and pharmacological industry. Perhaps the most popular area of its application are water sports. Neoprene is made from diving suits, clothes for surfing, diving, rafting, underwater hunting. Why? The fact is that the neoprene fabric has a unique composition. Firstly, such clothes are waterproof and resistant to sharp temperature changes. Secondly, it perfectly preserves the heat of the human body, preventing the multiplication of pathogens. Thirdly, neoprene clothing is longevous and resistant to damage (both mechanical and chemical). Do not forget that this material does not pose a threat to people who are prone to allergies.

Lightness, flexibility, strength, plasticity - all this is about neoprene, which has several varieties. The classification is based on differences in the density of neoprene and its thickness. So, in the fashion industry often use neoprene type LS, featuring high elasticity and softness. From this material they sew everyday clothes. But for tailoring suits for water and underwater sports better suited more dense neoprene class S and HS. Materials of types HHS, NF, W are considered industrial. By the way, clothes for weight loss are made of neoprene of the last three types. To speak about comfort, of course, is difficult, but thanks to the effect of the sauna, which is provided by the unique properties of the material, you can reduce the volumes and get rid of excess kilograms.

Care of clothes from neoprene

Another property of this material is the inability to absorb dirt, so it is often not necessary to wash neoprene clothes. By the way, expensive things to put in order alone is not recommended. It is better to use dry cleaning services. However, at home, you can wash clothes from neoprene. Firstly, the temperature of the water should not be above thirty degrees, and the means for washing it is better to choose children. The peculiarity is that it will have to be washed twice, because the water does not penetrate to the wrong side. First, erase the front side, then purl. Neoprene must be dried in ventilated areas where there is no direct sunlight.
