Monoral with breastfeeding

The modern preparation "Monural" has antibacterial action and is most often used for the treatment of urinary tract infections (most often it is cystitis, urethritis) and represents granules for solution preparation. The drug is taken 1 time at night, dissolving the granules in the third part of a glass of boiled water. Eating before this should be at least two hours, and the bladder should be empty. As a rule, one dose of the drug is enough for treatment. This is explained by the fact that its high concentration remains in the body for one or two days and this is quite enough to destroy the microorganisms that cause the disease.

Application of Monural for breastfeeding

Cystitis can appear in a nursing mother, then the question arises whether it is possible to use Monural for breastfeeding. The answer to this question should be given only by the doctor. The doctor decides whether to use this drug, given the severity of the disease. Usually, when Monural is prescribed to nursing mothers, lactation is recommended to be stopped for two days, until the medicine is completely removed from the body. The main active substance of the drug (phosphomycin) enters the breast milk in high concentrations and can lead to undesirable consequences for the baby. Mom for the preservation of lactation will have to make some effort and necessarily decant.

In especially severe cases or with repeated exacerbation of the infection, prescribe the drug again. Accept it, usually after 48 hours, but not earlier than a day later. In the case of repeated taking of the drug, lactation will have to be postponed for a longer period of time, however, with the great desire and patience of the mother, the feeding of the crumb can be resumed.
