Manghetti


In the north-eastern part of Namibia, between the cities of Hrutfontein and Rundu is the Mangetti National Park. The official status was given to him in 2008. It covers an area of ​​420 square meters. km.

History of creation

Prior to the formation of the park, the Mangetti territory served to preserve and spread such rare animals as, for example, white and black rhinos. The creators of the national park in Namibia pursued their goal of preserving the wild nature of the country, as well as socio-economic development of these territories through the spread of tourism.

Features of the Mangetti National Park

Today the infrastructure develops in this nature protection area: housing for tourists is built, fences along the whole territory are built, and other interesting projects for the development of tourism business are implemented.

The territory of Mangetti is a huge savannah plain with tall grass alternating with bushes and trees. There are many species of animals here: giraffes and elephants, hyenas and leopards, black antelopes and African dogs, caracals and blue wildebeest. Of the birds here are found parrots, eagles, vultures, kingfishers and many other species.

To date, the territory of the Mangetti Park is closed for visits due to construction, but as soon as the work is over, Mangetti will be ready to receive tourists.

How to get to Mangetti?

The national park can be reached by car from Rundu, with the road taking about an hour. From the capital of Namibia, you can reach Mangetti by car in 7 hours. And on the territory of Western Kavanga there is a runway. If you decide to fly there by plane, then the park by car can be reached in 45 minutes.
